Teaching with Technology
Creating a lesson with the Cast Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in mind was a very powerful activity. It was a little time consuming, but I believe it will be worthwhile in the long run because this method of lesson planning allows teachers to create more effective lessons that will have more meaning to every student in the entire class. By continuing to use traditional methods that teachers are familiar and comfortable with, we are not reaching some of our students. This inability to reach some students is due to the fact that every student is different, and he/she has different learning needs. By using antiquated methods, such as whole class lecture, many students are not engaged, and thus, not learning and progressing through school as they should. However, if educators make efforts to change and adapt their lesson planning strategies to be more universal, the time spent on lesson planning will be more productive and effective. We have to acknowledge that research indicates students' brains process information in three networks, recognition, strategic, and affective, and we must design our lessons to accommodate students' brain activity. Otherwise, we are only reaching a few students who can actually process information by receiving it through traditional methods. Most students have been exposed to technology their entire lives, and they are comfortable and excited about using it. We must continue to search for ways to incorporate technology into our lessons and find ways to use it to facilitate our many objectives, goals, and tasks as teachers.

Rikki-tikki-tavi
This summer is already off to an interesting start! Peanut just recently returned from her time-travel expedition, where she met quite a few interesting characters. Check out the video to see who she's been wagging tails with.
